Spinal Decompression Therapy
at Lifetime Chiro

When pain becomes debilitating, surgery may seem like the only way out. Thankfully, it’s not! Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy presents a conservative alternative to surgery. Non-invasive, it works well to relieve pain in the neck and lower back areas of the spine.

Lifetime Chiro is one of the few practices in the area to make this therapy available to our patients. We’re thrilled to be able to provide another service that may help our Kenmore community live healthier lives.

Differing from standard traction, spinal decompression therapy has provided an alternative for patients with:

  • Bulging discs, herniations and protrusions
  • Sciatica/nerve pain
  • Disc compression/degeneration
  • Stenosis
  • Post-surgical pain

  • Lumbar/cervical radiculopathies
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Arm/leg pain and numbness
  • Chronic neck or back pain that’s not responding to traditional treatment

Prior to starting treatment, the doctor determines the weight of the machine’s pull and sets the computerised program. With the patient strapped in position, the traction pulls and releases, creating a negative pressure change in the disc.

This negative pressure creates a vacuum that pulls the bulges or herniations back into position. Fluids, containing nutrients and oxygen, are naturally drawn back to the disc. Promoting healing, they re-hydrate and help regenerate the disc. Pain levels reduce when everything has moved back into place.

What is Spinal Decompression therapy?

Spinal Decompression therapy is a modern form of traction therapy, using intermittent motorised pulls. A non-surgical treatment for spinal disc injuries, it relieves chronic pain and promotes disc and vertebrae health.
Does Spinal Decompression Hurt?

Spinal Decompression Therapy is remarkably comfortable. Patients feel no pain and, in most cases, find it relaxing. You’ll feel intervals of gentle pulling, then release during the 20-minute session. Most people get used to it quickly and even fall asleep. A small percentage of patients experience temporary soreness, a sign that the muscles have been stretched differently.
Are there any side effects?

No, it’s natural and non-invasive. There’s no risk of infection, no recovery time, and no downtime from daily activities.
